UnForgotten Project

One Mother Lost, But Not Her Memory

The UnForgotten Refugee Project begins with Marija Baričević, and with the memories of her children. A memoir, told and written by her daughter, Carmen Baričević-Papić, reveals the contrast between village life, and life as a refugee. Detailing before and after those three years, which Marija would not survive due to cancer, a history almost forgotten comes back to life.

Mariette Papić editor, publisher, Writ Large Press.

Through this story punctuated with flowers, hard work and faith, the story of what we can lose, and what we can regain is illustrated. Customs no longer alive, trades no longer practiced are recalled so that a mother lost young, comes into focus through those she loved and the place she called home.

A place we have called home. Diaspora stories and more.
